Our membership is comprised of a diverse group of native plant lovers who interest includes native plants in gardening, landscaping, hiking, conservation, and research. As an organization, we believe that the enjoyment of native plants brings a better quality of life and brings people together who enjoy the native plants of British Columbia. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>We are currently seeking a part-time Communications and Administrative Assistant to help with a variety of communications related tasks as well as provide general administrative support to our Executive Director. The ideal candidate for this position will be self-motivated and creative, have experience in social media and website management and have some outdoor recreation experience. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>Duties and Responsibilities </b><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><i>Communications (75%) </i><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Performs general website updates and maintenance <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Assists with researching and developing original blog content <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Plans and implements social media content for Facebook and Twitter <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Monitors social media channels <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Assists with researching and drafting monthly e-newsletters <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Assists with production of semi-annual Cloudburst newsletter <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Works with Outreach/Communications Committee on a communications plan <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><i>General Administration (25%) </i><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Assists with travel arrangements, booking meeting rooms <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Attends and records minutes from board and committee teleconferences and local meetings <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Assists with Annual General Meeting document and event preparation <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Assists with processing invoices <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>Experience, Skills and Qualifications </b><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Experience and/or post secondary education in a discipline relevant to communications, marketing, journalism, or administration <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Website management experience (Wordpress) <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Experience in researching and writing social media and blog content <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Proficient in Microsoft Office (Publisher, Word and Excel) <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Excellent written and verbal communications skills <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Self motivated and able to work independently <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>Conditions of Employment </b><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Location: British Columbia <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>This is a part-time (8-10 hours per week) one year renewable contract position reporting directly to the Directors of the Board. The employee is expected to work from home and provide computer and internet connection unless otherwise arranged with the Directors.
