Conference 2002: Negotiating the Changing Landscape is offering a number of
pre-conference workshops to meet your training and professional development
needs. Space is limited and filling quickly. Please note that sessions PC5
and PC6 are two full day workshops.

PC1 SUPERBASE COLLECTIONS MANAGEMENT

This workshop will appeal to users and potential users who want to explore
why Superbase is such a favourite, and to directors and database managers
who may be looking for software to answer their database management
concerns. Form design tricks, file and field management and the advantages
of Superbase from current users will be presented using a sample database.

Firearms Legislation and its enforcement has undergone recent changes that
impacted the documentation and collections management of historical firearms

legal and stewardship requirements of managing historical firearms
collections.

Interpretation Canada's National Training Program for Interpreters. This is
a day workshop where participants will examine the planning process and
interpretive techniques including illustrated talks, guided walks, roving
interpretation and prop talks.

those working in or with museums embarking on a project entailing digitizing
images from their collections. What is involved? What are the costs? What
lessons have others learned? How do you start? This workshop will help you
determine options, consider different uses for images and assess the
implications for future cataloguing. Equipment such as scanners, cameras and
software will be reviewed.
