Subject: Regional Workshops: Expressions of Interest Invited

BC Museums Association invites those museums, art galleries and
heritage institutions throughout B.C. interested in hosting half-day, 1-
day or 2-day events as part of BCMA's Regional Workshop Series,
especially over the next 12 months, to "Reply" to this listserv
announcement.

Background:

BCMA's Regional Workshop Series is an ongoing regional delivery
program for both proactively and responsively scheduled workshops,
presentations and/or roundtables based on common or specific topics
of interest to a regional museums community.

Regional Workshops have been held in conjunction with Council face
to face meetings but can stand alone or be added to a host institution's
exhibit opening or special event as a promotion or supporting public
educational or professional development opportunity.

Basic Host Considerations:

1.	3 to 4-month organizational/promotional timeline;
2.	Proposed dates cannot conflict with BCMA annual conference
dates, (Conference 2004 is October 13-16, 2004 in Nanaimo, BC);
3.	Any subject matter that would be of interest and benefit to the
regional museums &/or galleries community;
4.	Preferred instructors, presenters or guest speakers, if known;
5.	Venue capacity, (Workshop rooms, number of participants.
Small institution proposals are also welcome);
6.	Ability to help BCMA promote the Regional Workshop to
related institutions and organizations in the region;
7.	BCMA member and non-member registration or admission
fees will apply.

As part of BCMA's current M.A.P.-funded "Member Services
Development Project", BCMA is committed to conduct 4 Regional
Workshop Series demonstration events by March 31, 2005.

Originally targeted regions are Skeena, Kootenays, upper Vancouver
Island and the Lower Mainland, however expressions of interest from
all regions of B.C. are invited and welcome.

Expressions of Interest by "Reply":

Interested institutions are asked to Reply by email providing the
following basic information:

1.	Name and location of institution or organization, the proposed
venue and capacity for participants;
2.	Proposed time period (by month);
3.	Proposed topic and desired outcome;
4.	Suggested format (ie. Workshop, roundtable, presentation,
guest speaker, etc);
5.	Resource personnel, if known.

Initial expressions of interest are requested by May 25, 2004 for
project planning purposes, however offers to host are welcome
anytime. BCMA will respond to all expressions of interest individually.

Thank you for your interest and consideration. We look forward to
hearing from you!
