A reminder that the deadline for arts and culture organizations to
apply to the Direct Access program of the Gaming Policy and
Enforcement Branch is this Monday, May 31. Applications can be
submitted before the deadline. 



Organizations that have not yet filed their applications should note
the following tips, from Ursula Cowland at the Gaming Branch:

a.. The firm deadline is 4:30 pm on May 31st, 2004.  Applications
must be physically in the Victoria office by the deadline - not the
regional offices or the government agents' offices. A Canada Post
date stamp is not sufficient. 

a.. You can send the application by fax. If you do so, just fax pages 1, 
2 and 3 of the actual application. Then send the original and all 
attachments by mail. Do not clog up the fax machine by sending all 
pages, as many others may also be trying to send faxes. The fax 
machine will date and time stamp your application. 

a.. If your application arrives by fax after 4:30 the Gaming Branch may 
take pity on you and assume you couldn't get through during business 
hours. However, other than this contingency, late applications will not 
be accepted.
