*Re:* Change of CMA Insurance Program broker to Marsh Canada
Limited from Aon
*To:* CMA Insurance Program Members:
Since my letter to you of November 6, 2007, advising you of the
change in the CMA Insurance Program broker to Marsh Canada from
Aon, it has come to my attention that Aon have written and
communicated to members regarding this change.
The purpose of this letter is to correct and clarify any misconceptions
that may have arisen from Aon’s communication with you. The CMA
and Marsh are also available to answer any further questions.
We trust that the following information will permit you to sign the
broker of record letter contained in my November 6, 2007 letter and
return it to Marsh, if you have not already done so.
If you are not already a member of the CMA Insurance Program,
please contact Shaki Mohamed at Marsh, call 416-349-4767, or email
shaki.d.mohammed@marsh.com, and she will be pleased to assist
you.
* There is no change to members existing insurance policies under
the CMA Program. The only change is a change in brokers from
Aon to Marsh. CMA has been considering this change for over 15
months, and after careful consideration, CMA has exercised its
right as the sponsor/agent for its programs.
* We urge you to sign and return the broker of record letter, so
that your insurance policies will continue with the same insurers
(underwriters) until they expire. At renewal, you will continue to be
eligible for group discounts and tailored broad coverage provided by
CMA Program Insurers under the CMA Insurance Program. By signing
the broker of record letter now with Marsh, there is the added benefit of
not having to start the underwriting process from scratch with a new
insurer, which could potentially create a lot of work for you and your
staff.
* Marsh Canada has regional offices across Canada, comes highly
recommended to the CMA, and has extensive experience in the
Museums and Fine Arts sector. Marsh will be communicating with
you shortly and will also provide you with a 1-800 number for easy
contact in the event that this is your preference.
* If you elect to not sign the broker of record letter now, you are
in effect leaving the CMA Insurance Program. Your insurance
policies will continue with the same insurers, but through Aon,
until they expire, or until you cancel them. At renewal, you will no
longer be eligible for group discounts and tailored broad coverage
provided by CMA Program Insurers under the CMA Insurance
Program.
As stated in my letter of November 7, Marsh plans to bring a number of
other major and smaller museums into the CMA Insurance program, in
order to further strengthen it and increase the buying power of
participants significantly. Therefore, members who elect to remain in
the CMA Insurance Program should expect benefits in the future in the
form of broad coverage at low pricing available through this buying
power.
CMA is continuing to work towards improvements in its group
insurance programs including the eventual establishment of a so-called
self-insurance program.
Please note, the CMA Employee Benefits and Accident Insurance for
Volunteers program remain with a different broker. See details at our
