Hello Association Members,

Thank you to all the museums in the southern interior of British Columbia for aiding students in their archival quest to develop one-minute local history videos.

This year, their work is posted on You Tube. In previous years, disc were sent to contributing museums, as well as posting on UBC O public affair, RBCM, and Kelowna Museum websites. After a number of requests we decided to post their work for greater access.

If you are interested in this collaborative project, please contact me.

Thank you,

Vicki

Subject: [Bcma-l] (Fwd) Provincial Heritage Strategy: On-Line Stakeholder Consultation

Members & Subscribers;
As you know, the BCMA has been closely involved in the initiative to advocate and support the development of a new heritage strategy for BC, and for the inclusion of BC museums in this developmental process.

>From all reports, museums were well represented at the nine regional stakeholder workshops held around BC earlier this fall. Thank you to all who attended. Findings and progress will be presented at Conference 2008 as part of the Plenary B session on Friday afternoon, November 21.

The BCMA urges you, whether a stakeholder workshop participant or not, to take this opportunity to contribute your input to this process by participating in the online survey, described below.

On behalf of the BCMA, we wish to thank Richard Linzey and Branch staff for this undertaking and for the chance to participate in this important development, (Please see below).

As a stakeholder in British Columbia's heritage, the BC Heritage
Branch invites you to participate in the development of the provincial
heritage strategy. If you would like to contribute and have been
unable to attend a Heritage Branch stakeholder workshop, please click
on the link below to provide your input. The survey asks three key
questions:

1. What heritage resources do you value and why are they important to
you?

2. What are the main challenges facing the sustainable management of
the heritage resources you value?

3. What would you like to see in a provincial heritage strategy to
address the challenges you have identified?

If you attended a workshop, thank you. They were enlightening for
Branch staff and have provided us with a tremendous amount of material
to consider. And, if you know of someone that you think should provide
input to the strategy, please forward the link to them.

Thank you to all participants for your contribution to this significant piece of
strategy development.
