The DELTA MUSEUM AND ARCHIVES is looking for a part-time, regular MUSEUM
ATTENDANT
The Museum Attendant reports to the Executive Director through the
Secretary/Receptionist and works within the team environment of a
community museum and archives and the context of Delta Museum and
Archives Society policies and procedures.
Description: The Museum Attendant is responsible for visitor reception,
answering public inquiries or forwarding calls to appropriate staff,
registering program bookings and collecting fees, transacting gift shop
sales, maintaining the safety and security of Delta Museum and Archives
buildings, contents, and visitors, and performing clerical tasks.
Responsibilities:
* Visitor reception, including meeting and greeting visitors when
they first enter the museum, orienting visitors to the admission
policy, history, services, and layout of the museum and archives,
recording visitor attendance statistics.
* Answering public inquiries about the Delta Museum and Archives'
hours of operation, location, exhibition and program information,
and related matters in-person, by telephone, fax or e-mail.
* Answering the telephone, transferring calls to staff or taking
messages as appropriate.
* Registering program and special event bookings in-person, by
telephone, fax or e-mail including collecting appropriate fees and
providing receipts for payment of fees, and calling program
registrants, if required.
* Transacting gift shop sales
* Taking receipt of donations of objects or materials to the museum
and archives for later consideration by the Curator or Archivist.
* Maintaining the safety and security of Delta Museum and Archives
buildings, contents, and visitors, including unlocking and locking
the buildings as required, operating the alarm systems and
surveillance of exhibition and gift shop areas.
* Performing clerical duties, including basic word processing,
filing, photocopying
Qualifications: High school graduation, plus training or experience in
basic clerical and word processing skills. Excellent oral communication
and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team. Excellent
organizational abilities.
Hours of work: Saturdays and occasional Sundays - September to May
Saturdays and Sundays - June to August
10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Pay Rate: $12.63/hour plus 4% in lieu of vacation
