The Kelowna Art Gallery receives $38,000 in support of the gallery’s 30th
Anniversary Exhibition and Celebrations

The Kelowna Art Gallery has been awarded $10,000 from the Canada Council for
the Arts, $13,000 from the Spirit of BC Arts Fund, $10,000 from the BCMA,
and $5,000 from the Central Okanagan Foundation.
With these funds, the gallery was able to publish an extensive, full-colour
catalogue featuring many works from the gallery’s permanent collection in
celebration of the gallery’s thirtieth anniversary. The catalogue
accompanies the exhibition, Nexus: Histories and Communities, which explores
six themes that curator Liz Wylie saw emerging from the works in the
collection. Also included are writings submitted by members of the community
about the history of the gallery and the works of art, or the collection in
general.

The opening reception for Nexus: Histories and Communities was held on
Saturday December 1, 2007 and was sponsored by Pushor Mitchell Lawyers and
Mission Hill Family Estate. There were approximately 200 members and guests
in attendance at the opening, including Leanne Hammond Komori and Sandi
Oloffs of the Central Okanagan Foundation who presented the cheque from the
COF to Kelowna Art Gallery Executive Director Dona Moore.

The Kelowna Art Gallery gratefully recognizes the support from the following
granting agencies towards the production of the Nexus: Histories and
Communities exhibition catalogue:
Canada Council for the Arts, Visual Arts - SOFI
Spirit of BC Arts Fund
British Columbia Museums Association
Central Okanagan Foundation

Due to the generosity of the grants received, the Kelowna Art Gallery has
been able to keep the selling price of the catalogue at an affordable rate.
The Nexus catalogues are for sale at the gallery at a cost of $20 for
gallery members, and $25 for non-members. They make excellent Christmas
gifts!
