*Description of Duties*

Successful applicant will be responsible for the following:

§ Conducting conservation, research, exhibition and collections 
management work using current and appropriate museological practices

§ Managing all museum finances

§ Responsible for the hiring, training and supervision of seasonal and 
special project staff

§ Responsible for the development of special projects to further the 
museum’s mandate and the subsequent administration and facilitation of 
those projects

§ Writing of grant applications

§ Creating and implementing succinct and effective policies, long and 
short-term goals for successful museum operations

§ Organizing and overseeing of volunteers and special events

§ Liaising with the public and other interested groups, governing bodies 
and societies to further the goals of Heritage Park Museum

§ Oversees the general maintenance, conservation and security of the 
Museum buildings and site.

*Qualifications/Skills*

§ A degree in Museum Studies/History/Anthropology or a related discipline.

§ At least 3 years previous practical experience working in a museum or 
related institution

§ Understand the importance of preservation, conservation, and 
historical accuracy

§ Previous experience working with volunteer boards

§ Past experience writing grant applications

§ Past experience implementing special projects with a cultural resource 
management theme

§ Strong research and writing skills

§ A demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects 
and priorities

§ Past supervisory experience and solid leadership skills

§ Ability to deal tactfully with the public and with the press
