*Innovations and Catalyst*
Alice Niwinski has been contracted to undertake the review of the
Innovations and Catalyst programs. We hope to have the review completed
by the middle of May 2007. If the review shows the need for the
continuation of these programs we are hoping to make an announcement in
the middle of May with the exact deadline date.
We will let everyone know by email when the review and the results are
complete. Thank you for your patience.
*Cultural Mapping and Planning Toolkits Now Available*
** **
*Vancouver**, B.C. (Feb. 21, 2007): *2010 Legacies Now and the Creative
City Network of Canada have developed two new resources to assist local
governments, as well as arts, cultural and heritage organizations, plan
for the future.
**The ****Cultural Mapping Toolkit**** has been designed to take you
through the entire mapping process, from creating an inventory of
cultural resources to drawing and presenting your map. Examples,
checklists and worksheets are included to help you along the way.******
** **
**The ****Cultural Planning Toolkit**** is a guide to assist with
strategic thinking, decision-making and community consultation as you go
through the cultural planning process. It includes an adaptable model
and practical checklists to help you create and implement a viable plan.**
“Cultural mapping and cultural planning are opportunities to promote
creativity and development, not only in the arts and cultural sector but
community-wide,” said Lori Baxter, director of Arts Now for 2010
Legacies Now. “We hope these new toolkits encourage civic leaders and
municipal planning staff to look at how cultural resources can be
utilized to improve community programs and services.”
“One benefit of the toolkits is that they will help convey the strength
of your community cultural resources to your target audience,” said Beth
Gignac, president of the Creative City Network. “By providing
step-by-step guidance, helpful tips and suggestions, we know that the
toolkits will make the mapping and planning processes less complicated.”
The toolkits are now available in English **at www.2010LegaciesNow.com
<http://www.2010legaciesnow.com/> and ****www.creativecity.ca/toolkits
<http://www.cCreativecCity.ca/toolkits>**** in PDF format. Print copies
will be available shortly. French versions will be available in late
spring.******
