Vancouver Police Centennial Museum
The Vancouver Police Centennial Museum is operated by the Vancouver Police Historical Society, a non-profit society and registered charity. The mandate of the museum is to foster interest in the history of the Vancouver Police Department and to deliver educational programs that focus on crime prevention and the science of contemporary police work.
Working under the supervision of the Museum Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the museum collection, including documentation, care and conservation. He / She will research, design and construct both permanent and temporary exhibits, fill research requests, assist with the preparation of collections-related grant applications and supervise curatorial volunteers.
Qualifications:
a.. Post-secondary degree in a related field
b.. 3 - 5 years of work experience in a museum, archives or historic site
c.. Knowledge of standard museum practices
d.. Proficiency in MS Office, including Access
e.. Excellent interpersonal skills
f.. Ability to collaborate effectively with experts from the community, programming staff, board members and volunteers
g.. Ability to work independently, multi-task and problem solve
h.. A criminal record check is required
This is a permanent, 20 hour per week position with room for growth. The salary is $1400 per month, plus vacation pay with a performance-based increment after 6 months.
