Dear Barbara:
I am sorry to disappoint you in regard to Harold Thomas Faulkner-Smith. I
have contacted the Delta Arts Council and I spoke with Lana, the director,
who will investigate but can't provide any information off the top of her
head. She knows that the Delta Arts Council does not have any of his work.
I contacted the Tsawwassen Arts Centre as well and spoke with Pattie, the
director, and she knows nothing as well. I looked online in the Fraser
Valley Library system and nothing. I looked in our newspaper clipping files
and also found nothing. We do not even have an obit of the artist.
Sorry,
Susan Pegram
Archival Attendant

Hello,
I am doing some research for a friend who has some early works of art by H.
Faulkner-Smith who lived and painted in Boundary Bay and who taught art in
Vancouver. My friend knew the artist as a friend of the family and was
given the pieces directly by the artist, and she has asked if I can locate
any institutions with collections of this artist's artworks or fonds.
Does anyone have, or know of, an archives that includes this Vancouver
artist/art instructor? One painting of historical interest (1930's)
shows fishing boats stranded at low tide at Boundary Bay with fishermen
working on their nets.
Harold Thomas Faulkner-Smith, 1893-1972 -- the artist immigrated to Canada
in 1913 and passed away in Burnaby.
Thank you,
Barbara J. Reed, BFA, MAC, ACA (dipl)
