Folks:
We have a great event lined up for July 1 in Yale -- the first organized
by the New Pathways To Gold Society. Please help us spread the word by
sending this email and pdf to as many people as you can. It's especially
important for directors to use their networks to get people out. It's
going to be a great day -- don't miss it!
Cheers,
Don

Canada Day Celebrations in Historic Yale

Time: 3:00 - 8:30 pm
Where: Yale Historic Site
(Museum Grounds)
Only 10 minutes from Hope!

Join L-G for Special Canada Day Experience
The Lieutenant Governor, the Honourable Iona Campagnolo, will preside at
a special Canada Day celebration at historic Yale and give a preview of
some of the events in store to mark next year’s BC2008 celebrations.
BC2008 is a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the
Crown Colony of British Columbia in 1858. BC’s modern day history was
forged on the banks of the Fraser River in Yale during the height of the
1858 Gold Rush. Only 10 minutes from Hope, Yale played a major role in
the creation of British Columbia, joining Confederation in 1871, and the
construction of the CPR in the 1880s. These events shaped our province
and dramatically impacted the lives of First Nations in the Fraser
Canyon and beyond. Less than two hours from downtown Vancouver, and even
closer to the Fraser Valley communities, join our Lt. Governor Iona
Campagnolo, the Yale First Nation, the Yale and District Historical
Society and the Yale community for an authentic Canada Day experience
that celebrates our living history.

Events Not To Be Missed!

Lieutenant Governor to Deliver Stump Speech
The Honourable Iona Campagnolo will play a special role in the
festivities, which will feature live music, street theatre and historic
re-enactments with colourful characters from British Columbia’s past.
The Lt. Governor will deliver the “stump speech” given by Governor James
Douglas in 1858 to 10,000 miners, merchants and First Nations in Yale.
This historic event was a key moment in strengthening the hold of
British law over the stampede of mostly-American miners. A High Tea will
be held afterwards on the Yale Museum grounds.

The Musical Stylings of Haley Sales
Vancouver Island based singer/song-writer Hayley Sales’ music resonates
with a wide variety of audiences. Her newly released single “What You
Want” has risen to #6 on the Adult Contemporary charts. You can see her
latest video or listen to her music online at www.hayleysales.com.

Lots of Activities and Family Fun!
Catch the colourful characters from BC’s past as actors put on a show
with street theatre and come in your own period costume. Enjoy the music
and dance from artists like Haley Sales, Black London and the Siska
Dancers. Take a historic walking tour with costumed interpreters, browse
the goods in the golden Gateway Market, treat the kids to the Children’s
Games, zoom on the Fraser River in a zodiac and much more!
