Okanagan Gallery Gets A Major Boost in Funding
PENTICTON - A key element of the Okanagan arts and culture scene,
the
Art Gallery of the South Okanagan, will receive a $30,000 grant from
the Province for building renovations and improvements, said
Penticton-Okanagan Valley MLA Bill Barisoff.
"Over the years, the community has invested a tremendous amount in
what has evolved to become a fantastic art gallery," Barisoff said.
"I'm really pleased that the Government is making a substantial
investment in the gallery today. Its value for this community is truly
priceless."
The funds will be used to provide the art gallery with a new roof and
to secure the protection and safety of the art collection.
Provincial funding is provided through the capital grant program,
which provides grants to eligible organizations with funds from
government gaming revenues. To be eligible for a capital grant,
organizations must be non-profit, benefit local communities, and have
volunteers in key positions.
