Student Summer Employment Opportunity

Position: Curatorial Assistant

 

The Delta Museum and Archives is looking for a temporary, part‑time (30 
hours per week) Curatorial Assistant to carry out a variety of 
short-term projects in the museum and archives. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

    * Assist in developing and maintaining the museum and archives
      collections : researching, documenting, describing and caring for
      artifacts and archival materials within the collection.
    * Assist in creating temporary and permanent museum and archives
      exhibits: planning, developing and installing exhibits.
    * Orient visitors to museum and archives facilities and services.
    * Complete an archival photograph description project.

 

Qualifications:

    * Applicant must have been a full‑time student during the last
      academic year and be returning to full‑time study in the fall of 2007.
    * Applicant must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
    * University degree preferred or near completion of university degree.
    * Education, practical training, and/or experience in historical
      research, museum and archives services.
    * Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    * Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
    * Familiarity with Inmagic DB/Textworks database software is an asset.

 

Term of Employment: May 22 to August 18, 2007; Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30 
am to 4:00 pm and occasional Sundays

Rate of Pay: $12.42 per hour, plus 4% in lieu of vacation
