Summer Employment Opportunity

The Vancouver Police Museum is operated by the Vancouver Police Historical Society, a non-profit society and registered charity.  The mandate of the museum is to foster interest in the history of the Vancouver Police Department and to deliver educational programs that focus on crime prevention and the science of contemporary police work. More information about the museum is available at www.vancouverpolicemuseum.ca.
 
 Working under the supervision of the Museum Programmer, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
  a.. Delivering forensic science-themed educational programs to elementary, secondary and ESL students
  b.. Conducting walking tours and guided tours of the museum
  c.. Assisting with the research and development of new educational programs
  d.. Creating supporting materials including, pre- and post- visit activities, vocabulary and program evaluations
  e.. Greeting visitors to the museum, collecting admissions and handling gift shop sales
Requirements:
  a.. Currently enrolled as student in criminology, education, history,  museum studies, or other related field
  b.. Between 16 and 30 years of age
  c.. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills; public speaking experience is an asset
  d.. Ability to work both independently and in a team
  e.. Ability to think creatively
Membership in Interpretation Canada, although not required,  is definitely an asset.
