Summer Employment Opportunity
The Vancouver Police Museum is operated by the Vancouver Police Historical Society, a non-profit society and registered charity. The mandate of the museum is to foster interest in the history of the Vancouver Police Department and to deliver educational programs that focus on crime prevention and the science of contemporary police work. Working under the supervision of the Curator, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
a.. Processing incoming donations and accessioning artifacts and photographs into the museum collection
b.. Maintaining the museums collection database
c.. Care and conservation of artifacts and displays
d.. Research and development of temporary displays
e.. Greeting visitors to the museum, collecting admissions and handling gift shop sales
Requirements:
a.. Currently enrolled as a student in history, museum studies, archival studies or other related field
b.. Between 16 and 30 years of age
c.. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Access
d.. Excellent research, communications and interpersonal skills
e.. Ability to work both independently and in a team
