Job Title: Art Adventures Assistant/Special Projects Coordinator
Location: Kelowna Art Gallery, 1315 Water Street, Kelowna BC V1Y 9R3

Job Description:
The Art Adventures Assistant/Special Projects Coordinator will 
contribute to public awareness of and access to the programs and 
services offered by the Kelowna Art Gallery. This will include assisting 
with the creation, preparation and implementation of the summer Art 
Adventures program. This employee will also coordinate all special 
off-site art projects, coordinate summer volunteers and act as the 
liaison between the gallery and a variety of organizations within the 
community.

Responsibilities:
§ Complete Kelowna Art Gallery orientation and review of mission, 
policies and procedures.
§ Attend weekly meetings with Public Programming Coordinator.
§ Assist Art Adventures Supervisor/Teacher in the creation and 
implementation of Art Adventures programs.
§ Prepare Art Adventures course outlines.
§ Create, implement and facilitate all off-site summer activities.
§ Recruit and interview summer volunteers.
§ Instruct Art Adventures classes.
§ Coordinate and oversee a team of volunteers.
§ Liaise between the gallery and various organizations.

Required Education and Experience:
§ Education in the visual arts or in teaching.
§ Experience working with children.
§ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
§ Basic computer skills.

In coordinating all off-site summer activities and training and 
supervising volunteers, the Art Adventures Assistant/Special Projects 
Coordinator will gain skills in project creation and management, 
volunteer recruitment and training, liaison with community 
organizations, marketing and promotion, display set-up, and public 
relations. The Art Adventures Assistant/Special Projects Coordinator 
will network with Kelowna Art Gallery and City of Kelowna staff, members 
of Kelowna’s Cultural District and the Downtown Kelowna Association, 
local community organizations, media representatives and local business 
owners.

Working Language: English
Driver’s license required: Yes
Start Date: June 4, 2007
End Date: August 31, 2007
Hourly wage: $12.50
Students must be returning to school in the fall of 2007
