Memorial Tribute for Barbara A. Tyler FCMA

      May 14, 2007, 6:00 pm
      Canadian Museum of Nature (VMMB)
      240 McLeod Street Ottawa

The museum community lost one of its strongest members in late March,
with the passing of Barbara A. Tyler, FCMA. Since her retirement as
director of The McMichael Canadian Art Collection, she fought cancer.
She passed away at her retirement home in Patagonia, Arizona. Barbara
was CMA president from 1987-89, and one of its strongest advocates. She
was also made a Fellow of the CMA. She worked in senior positions at the
National Museum of Man (now the Canadian Museum of Civilization), the
National Museums Corporation, the Glenbow Museum, the McMichael, as well
as the US National Park Service, and the Amon Carter Museum in Texas.

For those of you who knew Barbara Tyler, whether personally or by
reputation, a memorial tribute will be held on Monday, May 14, 2007, at
the Canadian Museum of Nature (VMMB), in Ottawa. Please arrive at 6:00
pm, the service begins at 6:30 pm.

    * If you plan to attend, please RSVP by May 10 to Monique Proulx :
      mproulx@museums.ca <mailto:mproulx@museums.ca> or 613-567-0099 x227

please send it to Sylvie Morel: sylvie.morel@civilization.ca
      <mailto:sylvie.morel@civilization.ca>or fax to 819-776-8301, by

At her request, the CMA has created the Barbara A. Tyler Award for
Museum Leadership in her honour. The CMA would like to make this a
lasting endowment and is inviting your support for this special
remembrance of Barbara. You can contribute to this award, using the
