PUBLIC INVITED TO AN OPEN HOUSE AT THE GULF OF GEORGIA CANNERY
To celebrate the signing of their new contract with Parks Canada, the Gulf
of Georgia Cannery Society is inviting the community to explore the
historic Gulf of Georgia Cannery on Saturday, May 5, as our guests. The
society will cover the cost of admission of all those touring the historic
site between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm on that date.
The 113 year-old cannery building celebrates the history of the West Coast
fishing industry. Underneath Canada’s largest cedar shake roof visitors
will find a wealth of in-depth exhibits, hands-on displays as well as
guided tours. The history of British Columbia’s fishing industry will come
alive for those taking advantage of this special offer.
The Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site is operated by the
non-profit Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society in collaboration with Parks
Canada. It is located at 12138 Fourth Avenue, Richmond. Free parking is
available.
