The S.S. Sicamous Restoration Society did not receive any funding and
was told that we did not have a high enough rating to receive a funding
grant. Basically it is the area in which we live, low unemployment, low
crime area and all that garbage. The biggest was that the jobs were not
good enough to be deemed as high education. Well, the cultural heritage
tourism market is the fastest growing market in North America. We have
3 ships, within a growing inland marine park, one of the only ones in
Canada, we have an accessioning program starting up, we have tour
guides, gift shop management and we have a successful professional
theater with 40 shows per summer. If one ponders for a moment to see
the diversity of jobs we have available and the intrinsic value of
meeting people from all over the world, they have got to be kidding that
we are not worthy of funding! Our restoration society and the inland
marine park is run by 1 full time overworked manager, and 1 part time
custodian. We have a carpenter on call if we get grants for
restoration. We have only received one student for CMA, 1 full time
position with Weyerhauser. Not sure what they are thinking. I have
written to our past neighbor Stockwell Day, Bill Barisoff, the mayor and
Service Canada for an appeal.

Everyones thoughts.

Alexa La Madrid, General Manager
S.S. Sicamous Restoration Society
