Describe the work tasks and responsibilities:
The Senior Interpretation and Preservation Assistant duties and =
responsibilities will include .
a.. Provide tours for Museum visitors.
b.. Maintain the preservation work that has taken place through the =
Historic Cemetery Preservation Project=20
c.. Work with the Curator to create and implement a Canada Day =
Program of events that will serve the community.
d.. Work with the Haney House Caretaker/Buildings Committee to =
complete a mapping projects of the Haney House grounds and its =
historical attributes which will assist staff with any planning for the =
future.
e.. Research and install an exhibit at the Maple Ridge Library on a =
topic relating to Maple Ridge's history. The student will learn =
research skills, how to write labels and how to display historic =
artifacts in safe manner.
f.. Market , prepare and present the popular weekly Heritage Tea on =
the Veranda in July and August.
g.. Maintain museum preventative conservation standards to prevent =
deterioration and infestation.
h.. Continue the partnership with the Maple Ridge School District =
through the 5th annual Tulip Project. =20
Qualifications
a.. Haney House seeks a responsible college or university student who =
has an enthusiasm for learning and history
b.. Must be a full time student returning to school next year
c.. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and also =
have the ability to work with computers.
d.. Must be able to work independently and in a team setting
e.. Experience in a leadership role or previous experience in a museum =
or heritage setting an asset
Wage: $12.50 per hour
Start Date: June 4, 2007
Hours: 35 hours per week
