the 12^th annual british columbia
wine label awards
September 28^th to October 2^nd , 2007
The BC Wine Museum & VQA Wine Shop is proud to present the 12^th Annual
British Columbia Wine Label Awards. Wineries from across the province
have been invited to submit wine label entries into four different
categories that recognize and honour the creativity and ingenuity in
wine labeling and packaging. This awards competition explores the fusion
of art and wine represented by wine label design and marketing. The
British Columbia Wine Label Awards run September 28^th to October 2^nd
during the Okanagan Fall Wine Festival.
This year’s esteemed panel of judges is comprised of specialists in the
fields of art, wine, and media: Liz Wylie, Curator at the Kelowna Art
Gallery; Rhys Pender, a wine educator, freelance wine writer, and
industry consultant with Fine Vintage Ltd.; and Mike Roberts, weather
broadcaster on CHBC with extensive experience as a television producer
and host. The BC Wine Museum is honoured to welcome these judges to this
year’s competition.
New to this year’s British Columbia Wine Label Awards is the creation of
two new categories- Dessert Wines and Fruit Wines. These categories were
developed in response to industry requests and to recognize the unique
design challenges of labeling and marketing such dessert wines as
icewines, late harvest wines, port style wines, as well as fruit wines.
All entries will be on display at the BC Wine Museum for voting to
decide the winner of this year’s People’s Choice Award. All members of
the public are invited to visit and cast their vote from September 28^th
to October 2^nd .
The BC Wine Museum & VQA Wine Shop is a facility of the Kelowna Museums
