Press Release

South Wing Project Going Ahead

After more than two years of planning, the South Wing Project at the =
Creston Museum is about to begin.

The South Wing, one of the Museum's principal buildings, has flooded =
every spring for the past several years, resulting in a mouldy, musty =
place that us no good for either artifacts or people.

And if that weren't bad enough, the roof has leaked in the past and the =
whole building has inset infestations on a regular basis.

"We can do a lot to make the building a much better museum space," says =
Tammy Hardwick, manager of the Devon Street facility. "The first step =
is to fix the property drainage, to keep water from even reaching the =
South Wing."

That involves putting in interceptor drains, to catch rainwater and =
subsurface water and channel it around the leaky building, through a =
shed housing the Museum's larger artifacts, and across the lawn to the =
municipal storm sewer.

"We have the contractor, Wayne Braun of LCW Construction here in =
Creston," says Hardwick. "We have, thanks to the generosity of the =
Creston & District Credit Union and many private donors, all the =
necessary funding in place." All that is left to do before the project =
can start is to move the artifacts out of the shed. "If anyone wants to =
help with that, we start at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 17!"

The second part of the project, fixing the building itself, will go =
ahead in September 2008.

"That's where we put a perimeter drain immediately around the building, =
replace the roof and the back wall, completely re-do the interior. =
While we're at it, we'll put in climate control and sprinkler systems, =
and redevelop the exhibits," says Hardwick. "We're still fundraising =
for that."

The directors of the Museum offer their sincere thanks for the on-going =
support the community has given, both for this project and for the =
Museum's operations in general.
