Expression of Interest
School Programs Coordinator
Temporary Part-Time --28 hours Per Week
May 2008 -- May 2009 (Maternity Leave Coverage)
$23.21 - $27.28 Per Hour (plus 12% in lieu of benefits)
 
This is professional educational work involving research of new 
programming ideas, development of programs, kits or learning resources, 
seeking external funding to assist with the costs of new developments, 
management of educational partnerships and the rental and maintenance of 
education kits, set up and delivery of existing interpretive programs 
and the management of the Museum volunteer program. The Coordinator also 
provides professional development opportunities for teachers and other 
educators at the Museum or school and provides coordination of same 
opportunities for the City-owned heritage sites. The School Programs 
Coordinator is responsible for the promotion of all school programming 
at the  Richmond Museum as well as for liaising with those delivering 
and promoting school programs at the City-owned heritage sites. The 
Coordinator recruits, trains and supervises volunteers to assist with 
the delivery of school programs and related-events. The School Programs 
Coordinator is responsible to manage and advise on the educational 
content of special projects and assist with other duties as required.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate degree in education, museum studies or related discipline 
with experience in educational programming preferable in a museum or 
heritage site. Thorough knowledge of the BC school system and 
curriculum. Considerable knowledge in artefact based learning. Ability 
to work in a team environment and independently with minimal 
supervision. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability 
to speak in public. Ability to prepare and/or present various reports 
including those for publication and to compile statistical data. 
Knowledge of museum practises and principles. Knowledge of Canadian, 
British Columbian, and Richmond history preferred. Successfully pass a 
criminal record check.
