The Chilliwack Museum and Archives has launched a new on-line exhibit,
Brewer's Gold: Looking Back at the Hop Industry in Chilliwack. The hop
industry was a major agricultural industry in Chilliwack from the 1890s to
1997. During this time, thousands of people were employed in the business of
separating the hop cone from the hop vines.
Brewer's Gold joins a second on-line exhibit, Chilliwack's War Memorial.
This exhibit documents the history of those men who died during World Wars
One and Two. The exhibit also includes the names of those who, for various
reasons, were not recorded on the memorial, and articles about other
memorials located throughout the City of Chilliwack.
The exhibits can be viewed by going to the museum and archives web site at
www.chilliwack.museum.bc.ca. Click on exhibits.
