(Vancouver, British Columbia) Do you remember Hidy and Howdy? Twenty
years ago you might not have seen them in person, but now you can.
In celebration of the Spirit of BC week and the 20th Anniversary of the
1988 Calgary Olympic Games, the BC Sports Hall of Fame is hosting the
"Spirit of '88: a look back at the Calgary Olympic Games". Visitors will
see the original mascots from the games, volunteer uniforms, Canadian
team uniform, footage from the games, photographs, and much more. This
featured exhibit will be on display at the BCSHFM from February 10 to
April 13, 2008. The "Spirit of '88" will include educational, community
and family programming.
As part of “Spirit of ‘88” Celebrations the BC Sports Hall of Fame is
proud to present the following activities.
* Spirit of ’88 FREE Family Day
February 10, 2008 at the BC Sports Hall of Fame from 10am-5pm. Families
can be the first to see the “Spirit of ‘88” exhibit, have their faces
painted, and design an Olympic torch. Families who arrive early can meet
the _new mascots_ from 10am-12:30pm. Admission is free for the entire day!
* Spirit of ’88: a look back at the Calgary Olympic Games
February 10 - April 13, 2008
A featured exhibit on loan from the Olympic Hall of Fame and Museum in
Calgary. The exhibit will showcase the original mascots Hidy and Howdy,
Calgary Olympic torch, Canadian team opening ceremonies uniform,
volunteer uniforms, footage and photographs from the games memorable
moments and much more!
* Spring Back to ‘88
March 17-21, 2008 (spring break)
Special programming based on the exhibit for community groups and
families throughout spring break. Check out bcsportshalloffame.com

The BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum honours British Columbia’s teams,
builders, athletes, pioneers, and media through 20,000 square feet of
exciting exhibits. By ‘Honouring the Past and Inspiring the Future’, the
