Ahoy Mateys! The Maritime Museum will be training children to be =91the =

of the worst=92 during March break.=20
The fourth annual =91Pirate School=92 runs March 18th through the 20th =
at the
Bastion Square landmark.=20
>From 10- 4 each day experienced instructors will teach young scalawags =
the
skills needed to survive on the high seas. Pirate apprentices will learn =
how
to build model boats, paint faces do tattoos and design pirate flags.=20
Admission is $6.00 per child and $10 for adults including GST. All =
children
must be accompanied by an adult.

Massive Marine Garage Sale
The Maritime Museum of British Columbia will be holding its fifth annual
Massive Marine Garage Sale on Saturday April 26th from 9:00 a.m. until =
1:00
p.m.
The popular event will take place at the pier A warehouse building at =
Ogden
Point-cruise ship terminal- on Dallas Road in Victoria.
Sale items can be brought to the site on Friday April 25th between 5 and =
8
p.m or on Saturday morning from 6:30 a.m. on. Tables must be completely
setup by 8:30.Each seller will be provided with a table for a fee of =
$25.=20
Costs:=20
* Entrance $2 for adults: $1 for children=20
* Sellers, $25 includes table rental (individuals): $20 for early
birds=20
* Table/booth rental (commercial): $100=20
* Boat on trailer $25 : $20 for early bird registration=20
* Car topper (kayak, dinghy, masts, outboards) in outside display: $10
*What to buy & sell: All marine-related items, lines, fenders, charts,
winches, marine tools, paddles, boat clothing, unopened paint, outboard
engines, outdated inventory, fishing gear, sails, books, electronics,
anchors, dishes, tableware, cushions etc. In fact, anything that can be
found on the inside or outside of a boat.Bring plenty of change.
*Selling Your Boat: an outside area will be available for selling small
craft, boats on trailers, Zodiacs, marine motors, masts, etc. You will =

responsible for your display.
*Do not bring: furniture, hydrocarbons, engines with fuel, open paint =

International Museum Days=20
This years International Museum Days programming at the Maritime Museum =
will
focus on environmental conservation The programs are free to the public
between 10 and 4 on May 15-16 and will feature a special visit from the
Vancouver Aquarium=92s AquaVan! You=92ll see live sea animals and learn =
about
the connections between marine animals, the environment and ourselves.
Experienced Royal British Columbia Museum educators will show specimens =
to
help visitors identify some of the creatures they might find on =
Vancouver
Island=92s beaches. Touch a sea urchin and find out what a mermaid=92s =
purse
contains! Experts from the University of Victoria=92s VENUS (Victoria
Experimental Network Under the Sea) project will be on hand showing live
data from their cameras positioned on the seafloor in the Strait of =
Georgia.
