New Exhibit:

CONTRAST

featuring Katherine Siemens and Savannah Hatch

January 19 - April 6, 2008

A selection of colour and black and white photographs by mother and
daughter, Katherine Siemens and Savannah Hatch.  The exhibition will also
feature historical images and artifacts from the Museum's photographic
collection.

Lecture Series: In Their Own Words

The White Rock Museum + Archives is hosting a lecture series by local
authors and historians on topics of local interest. Topics range from First
Nations and natural history, to railway, political and architectural
history.  Lectures are scheduled in February, March, April May and
September.

Speakers for February are:

10:30am Saturday, February 8th - Henry Ewert

Henry Ewert is a railway historian and author of The Story of the BC
Electric Railway Company and Victoria's Street Car Era, and co author (with
Heather Conn) of Vancouver's Glory Years: Public Transit 1890-1916. He was
awarded the Canadian Railway Association's Lifetime Achievement Award for
2003.

10:30am Saturday, February 23rd - Dr. Bruce Miller

Dr. Bruce Miller is a Professor of Anthropology at the University of British
Columbia, author of Invisible Indigenes: The Politics of Nonrecognition, and
editor of Be of Good Mind Essays on the Coast Salish. His research includes
studying the use of indigenous oral materials in Canadian courts and the
comparative study of indigenous peoples and their relationships with the
state in its various forms.
