Contract Heritage Fair Assistant

The Richmond Museum seeks a creative, energetic, positive and organized
individual to work on contract as a Heritage Fair Assistant. Under the
supervision of the School Programs Coordinator, the Contract Heritage
Fair Assistant would be responsible for administering awards and
contracts, general administrative duties, and promoting the Richmond
Regional Heritage Fair, which will take place on May 2 & 3 2008 at the
Richmond Cultural Centre. This is a $2500 contract position to commence
on March 10, 2008 and to be completed no later than May 9, 2008. The
contractor must be available to work on May 1, 2 & 3 2008.

In 2008 the Richmond Museum Society will host the 6th annual Richmond
Regional Heritage Fair program. Over 300 Richmond and Delta students
from grades K-12 research an aspect of Canadian history and compete for
roughly 100 places to exhibit their projects at the Regional Fair to
their peers and the public. In addition, community groups and history
specialists will conduct workshops and demonstrations for the students
and the general public.

The Richmond Regional Heritage Fair is part of a national program
sponsored by the Historica Foundation that is dedicated to increasing

Deliverables:
- Promote the Fair to teachers throughout Richmond and Delta.
- Promote the Richmond Regional Heritage Fair to the general
public.
- Administer the student awards program.
- Negotiate all contracts with entertainers.=20
- Assist with project assembly and dismantling on Fair days
(May 1, 2 & 3 2008).
- Assemble and distribute all teacher information packages.
- Assistance with other aspects of the Fair as needed.

Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to encourage community involvement
through the delivery of public events.
- Interest in Canadian history and children's educational
programs.
- Experience working with volunteers
- Demonstrated ability to write effective press releases.
- Experience working in a PC environment, with a basic
familiarity with the Windows Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Superior organizational skills.

Work Period: Week of March 10 to May 9 2008
Work Week: Contractor determines his/her own schedule between the days
of Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Contractor must be available to
work May 1, 2 and 3 2008.=20
Remuneration: $2500 based on the completion of the set deliverables.
