The City of Surrey is growing at a tremendous rate. Rapid growth in a
demanding environment means that innovation and creativity are vital to
the success of our community of 410,000 citizens. The Parks, Recreation
and Culture Department is looking for an energetic, self motivated, team
player to join the department as a Senior Leader at the Historic Stewart
Farm.
The Historic Stewart Farm is a designated heritage site operated by the
Heritage Services Section of the Surrey Parks, Recreation and Culture
Department. The facility provides visitors with a unique opportunity to
connect with Surrey's agricultural past, focusing on the years 1890 to
1910.
Reporting to the Program Specialist, the Senior Leader will be
responsible for the implementation of presentations, tours and programs.
The position provides support for facility operations, safety and
security, assists in program preparation, set up and clean up, craft
research and demonstration, operation of the wood stove, and support for
volunteer scheduling, hospitality and recognition. The Senior Leader
provides friendly and accurate customer service to visitors of all ages
and abilities - groups and individuals. The position duties will involve
program delivery, support and assistance of volunteers, visitor
services, facility operations and other job related duties as required.
The successful candidate will have good verbal and written communication
skills; excellent interpersonal skills with a practical approach to
operations that involves being flexible and observant. Skills and
previous knowledge of demonstrating crafts and leading tours is
considered an asset as well as having experience and/or interest in
history and museums.
