Hi Garth,

There are definately a number of fairly specific details you'll want to
consider when building an archival storage area.

The Archives Association of British Columbia (AABC) website (www.aabc.bc.ca)
has some useful information under the "Archives Toolkit" section and/or you
may want to contact archival organizations in BC that have recently opened
new buildings - I can think of the Archives of the Anglican Diocese of New
Westminster and the Provincial Synod of BC and Yukon both in the Vancouver
School of Theology (Iona Building) at UBC that recently opened with a new
purpose built archives.

Sincerely,

Lisa Glandt

  Subject: [Bcma-l] Inquiry Request

Good Day, I am writing on behalf of the North Peace Historical Society
located in Fort St John. We are in the process of getting ready to build a
new archives building to store our large archival collection.

Our inquiry is two fold; first, what are the necessary required elements
needed for a building to meet the standards of archival storage? And
second, which companies are the best to contact to ensure these standards
are followed, or can a general contractor be used?

  Your time is appreciated.

  Sincerely,

  Garth A. Sager
