Hi Nancy,
Here is an excerpt from our HR policy regarding the hiring of family
members. There is no restriction on who the people are, but there are
cautions with respect to what they do. Good common sense rules the day.
=20
4.5.3 Hiring of Family Members
There is no restriction on the hiring of family members, including
common-law family members, of existing or former employees or of
existing or former Directors of TLC, for either a permanent or temporary
position within TLC. However, unless specifically authorized by a
senior manager, no employee may have supervisory responsibility over a
family member. Also, no employee may be involved in the hiring process
for a family member.
=20
Family relationships within the workplace may be seen as a potential
conflict of interest, and it is required that any such relationships be
disclosed, in confidence if necessary, to the appropriate divisional
manager or a senior manager. It is also expected that all relationships
within the workplace be conducted in a professional manner.

Subject: [Bcma-l] Nepotism Policy?
Dear colleagues,
=20
I am interested to know of Museums that have adopted Nepotism Policies
as part of their Code of Ethics.=20
=20
Specifically, I am wondering if anyone has a written prohibition against
family members or spouses serving on the same board.
=20
I would be most grateful to receive a copy of any Nepotism Policies in
effect in BC museums.
=20
With thanks,
=20
