*International Exhibition Opportunity for Artists
*KELOWNA, BC -- The Alternator Gallery for Contemporary Art in Kelowna,
B.C. asks artists interested in exhibiting their work in 2009/10 to
submit an exhibition proposal by April 15, 2008.
The Alternator is a non-profit artist-run centre that exhibits a broad
range of contemporary art including installation, sculpture, new media,
video, painting, drawing, printmaking and other media. Preference will
be given to innovative, provocative or controversial work not suitable
for commercial or mainstream venues.
This year we are pleased to announce special opportunities for Friends
of the Alternator including residencies and an international exhibition
exchange.
Artists are encouraged to submit their applications to participate in
our artist-in-residency program. Selected artists will be given
one-month free access to Studio 111 located in the Rotary Centre for the
Arts followed by a paid exhibition in the Alternator Window Gallery.
One of our most exciting exhibition opportunities in 2008 is still open
for submissions. The Alternator has arranged a members' exchange with
the highly regarded /Three Walls/ gallery in Chicago, Illinois and will
be sending up to four artists to participate this November. We are
thrilled to provide this rare opportunity for artists to gain
international exposure for their work.
Anyone can become a Friend (member) of the Alternator by completing a
membership form available online.
Artists are asked to submit 15 to 20 images (slides, JPEG files or DVD)
of current work, an artist's statement, an exhibition proposal and a
current curriculum vitae along with a self-addressed stamped envelope to
the attention of the Selection Committee, Alternator Gallery for
Contemporary Art, #103-421 Cawston Ave. Kelowna, BC. V1Y 6Z1.
Submissions from individual artists and groups of artists as well as
independent curators are welcome. Exhibitions generally run for six
weeks. Professional fees are paid. The deadline for all exhibition and
residency opportunities is April 15, 2008.
