    The BRITISH COLUMBIA HISTORICAL FEDERATION'S ANNUAL CONFERENCE will
    be held in New Westminster, B.C. from May 8-11, 2008 and a field
    trip to Fort Langley. 

     

    The multifaceted program of workshops, presentations and tours will
    appeal to history buffs and heritage enthusiasts.  The program
    begins on Thursday with two terrific workshops – FINANCIAL PLANNING
    AND REPORTING FOR NON PROFIT SOCIETIES (including Director's
    Liability  and Event  Insurance)  and BRITISH COLUMBIA'S HISTORIC
    LAND RECORDS – THE INSIDE STORY (Including a behind the scenes tour
    of the New Westminster Land Titles Office).  The Opening Reception 
    also features the book fair open to those in attendance.

     

    Friday morning features an Advocacy Session followed by speakers on
    themes related to BC's first capitals, Langley and New Westminster –
    The Royal Engineers Re-enactors,  Jim Wolf on New Westminster and
    Charles Hou on Gold Rush and Trails.  The book fair opens to the
    public at noon.

     

    At noon a bus leaves for Fort Langley for a guided tour of the Fort,
    a walking tour of Fort Langley village and time to shop the antique
    stores, before enjoying high tea at St. George's Anglican Church. 
    Return to New Westminster around 7:30 pm for an evening on your own.

     

    Saturday morning has the AGM at Douglas College followed by lunch at
    Galbraith House, a restored Victorian mansion.   Two  walking tours
    are offered The guided Waterfront Tour will include the Samson V
    Maritime Museum, the last of the Fraser River paddlewheelers and a
    walk along the river boardwalk.

    The second tour includes The Museum of the Royal Westminster
    Regiment, The Royal Engineers Living History Group will present a
    reenactment at Irving House or the Regimental Museum.  The tours are
    finished by 3:30 pm leaving time to tour the antique shops or see
    the many wonderful old buildings in the downtown area.

     

    The Awards reception and banquet will be at the Inn at Westminster
    Quay with writer and radio host Mark Forsythe being the guest speaker.

     

    *REGISTER NOW.*  Some events have limited capacity and an early bird
    discount is available until *March 15th** *and all registrations
    received by that date will be eligible in a draw for tickets for two
    on the Fraser River Paddle Wheeler dinner cruise on Mother's Day.

    Registrations post-marked no later than April 15th will be
    accepted.  Registration forms and detailed program descriptions are
