WEST (Wine Education Series of Tastings) Presents:
Slow Food and the Art of Eating- A Wine & Food Pairing
with Joy Road Catering
Thursday, April 3, 2008
7:00 PM**
Discover the pleasures of local, seasonal ingredients paired with
specially selected BC VQA wines during Slow Food and the Art of Eating,
the first seminar in the spring series of WEST (Wine Education Series of
Tastings) at the BC Wine Museum & VQA Wine Shop located inside the
Laurel Packinghouse, 1304 Ellis Street. Chefs Dana Ewart and Cameron
Smith of Joy Road Catering in Penticton will prepare a sample of dishes
to complement wines that have been chosen by your WEST host, Julianna
Hayes. Tickets for this event are $30 for Kelowna Museums members and
$35 for non-members. Seating is limited; please call 868-0441 to reserve
your spot now.
Fresh and seasonal are the key elements to the slow food movement which
emphasizes local agriculture and sustainability. "Since our early days
selling baking at the local farmer's market, Joy Road Catering has
primarily used local ingredients for the simple reason that fresh tastes
better," says Ewart, "And while socially-responsible food sourcing
allows our customers to enjoy the local bounty at the height of
ripeness, it also sustains the farmers and artisans who represent the
agricultural heritage of the Okanagan."
WEST is a wine education program designed to unveil the perception of
wine in an interactive, casual environment while combining the natural
elements of food and wine. The next WEST event will be the Spring Wine
Fest Warm-up on May 1, followed by Pass the Winemaker on June 5. For

The BC Wine Museum & VQA Wine Shop is a facility of the Kelowna Museums
Society, a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to a greater
awareness of the agricultural, wine-producing, military, and cultural
heritages of the Okanagan. The BC Wine Museum is located at 1304 Ellis
Street, at the corner of Ellis and Cawston in Kelowna's Cultural
District. Open Monday-Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 10am-5pm, and Sunday
