HERITAGE SITE MANAGER
Located in Penticton B.C. the OKANAGAN INLAND MARINE MUSEUM operated by
the S.S.Sicamous Restoration Society is in need of a manager. The site
consists of three full sized vessels, one stern section of a dismantled
ship, and a 1936 dredge shed building.
The Ships: S.S.Sicamous is a 1914 rolled iron hulled sternwheeler. Built
by the CPR this 220 foot long ship is the key to the site. The 90 foot
rail transfer tug NARAMATA built in 1914, and the Canadian National rail
transfer tug CN#6 complete the "fleet". "Number 6" is floating, while
the two CPR vessels are beached. Also on site is the stern saloon of the
1908 OKANAGAN, and the former dredge shed provincial government used to
maintain the docks and river. This is used for a work shop and support
services.
The manager should have previous experience in museum or heritage site
management.
The duties include but are not limited to: budget preparation and
control, site development, grant writing, restoration, staff
supervision, event planning and other duties as required.
The position will start no later than April 28th. The position will
continue until November 28th but maybe extended to year round operation
based on site revenues and job performance.
