Media Release

The Board of Directors of the Nanaimo Art Gallery is pleased to announce the
appointment of Ed Poli as Gallery Manager, effective April 1, 2008.

Mr. Poli is a well-known local management consultant, community activist and
arts advocate. After a management career in the federal civil service
spanning 25 years, he became heavily involved with the development and
implementation of Nanaimo's Community Economic Development Strategy. Over
the past few years Mr. Poli has been responsible for establishing and
managing a number of organizations, including the Pacific Offshore Energy
Association and Ocean Industries BC.

Mr. Poli has a long history of community involvement working with service
clubs, not-for-profit organizations and community committees. These include
the Downtown Nanaimo Partnership Society, the Downtown Business Development
Committee, the Hidden Heroes Education Society, the Downtown Nanaimo Arts,
Culture and Entertainment Committee, and the Nanaimo North Rotary Club. His
interest in the arts goes back many years. He coordinated the establishment
of the Nanaimo Film Society, and is presently the Secretary of the Nanaimo
Blues Society. On being appointed to the Gallery Manager position, Mr. Poli
said:

"I have always been a strong supporter of the arts, and a firm believer in
the value of the arts to the aesthetic, cultural, and economic well being of
the community. Nanaimo's arts scene is exciting and full of potential to
just get better and better!"

In expressing pleasure that Mr. Poli has agreed to take on the position of
Gallery Manager, Ian Niamath, President of the Nanaimo Art Gallery Society
Board of Directors said:

"This is a really important time for the Gallery as we look at the future
development of Nanaimo. With the downtown revitalization that is already
happening, and the very strong commitment to the role that cultural
activities play in making the city an exciting place for both local
residents and visitors, the board feels that the Nanaimo Art Gallery will be
an even more vital part of the community in the future. We believe that with
his experience, proven track record, and knowledge of the community, Ed Poli
is the ideal person to help us move the gallery forward."
