Jann Bailey receives highest recognition from Canadian Museums Association*

Kamloops Art Gallery
The Kamloops Art Gallery is pleased to announce that Jann Bailey,
Executive Director, has been appointed a *Fellow of the **Canadian
Museums Association* (CMA). Appointment as a Fellow is the highest form
of recognition bestowed by the CMA. There can be no more than 50 Fellows
at any time, and therefore inclusion in this order indicates significant
accomplishment. The award was announced during the CMA's 61st annual
conference and Awards of Outstanding Achievement on Thursday April 10,
2008 at the Royal British Columbia Museum in Victoria.
Ms Bailey, a past-President of the CMA, is currently in Vancouver
undergoing treatment for acute leukemia. She had this to say about
receiving this tribute, "I am very honoured to be named a Fellow of the
CMA and join a handful of remarkable and dedicated museum professionals
from across Canada who hold this distinction. The Canadian Museum
Association has been an integral player in building respect and
understanding for the importance of Canadian museums not only in Canada,
but around the world, and I hope to continue this important work."
In order to be considered for nomination to be a Fellow, each nominee must:
· Have contributed in a distinctive and exemplary fashion to the
profession, to the advancement of museums, and to the work of the CMA.
· Have shown commitment to the ideals of the Canadian museum
community, and to the principles and philosophy of the CMA.
· Have made a cumulative contribution to the sector, over time,
that has had significant regional, national, or international impact.
