The Italian Cultural Centre Society of Vancouver is pleased to announce
the upcoming opening of "Il Museo at the Italian Cultural Centre," a
museum that will be a living narrative of the contributions of pioneer
and contemporary Italians and their institutions in Vancouver and
beyond. It will serve both the general public and the Italian community
with dynamic cultural and educational exhibits on a part-time basis,
year round.
Il Museo at the Italian Cultural Centre is currently seeking a part-time
Museum Curator to spearhead this project and coordinate its future
operation. This is a permanent part-time position, with a minimum of 20
hours/week. The successful candidate will be willing to work occasional
weekends and evenings for special cultural events.
*Qualifications and experience required*
. A recognized university degree and, preferably, schooling in
museology/archival studies at a diploma or degree level
. Knowledge and experience working in collections management and curatorship
. Demonstrated abilities to multi task, meet deadlines, supervise a
budget and achieve project deliverables
. Familiarity with standard office computer software and collections
databases (Access)
*Principle duties and responsibilities*
. Day to day management and administration of the ICC Museum, including
finances, human resources, marketing, publicity, and advocacy,
programming, exhibitions, collections management, interpretation and
facilities management
. Liaise with the board and participate in a number of Society
committees - most notably, the Museum Programming Committee -- as well
as attend Board Meetings when invited
. Plan and organize in computer format the acquisition, storage and
exhibition of collections and related materials, including the selection
of exhibition themes and designs.
