Interesting to read about the wonderful success of theTtitanic exhibit. I
also noted that this successful commercial exhibit also received funding
from Cultural Spaces. It is interesting also to note this funding for a
commercial exhibit [ . . . the Royal BC Museum . . . collects, preserves and
interprets . . . that tell the story of British Columbia.]
We, a modest museum which strives to uphold the above, went through a six
month rigmarole with Cultural Spaces to try to repair some leaky roofs which
were destroying our artefacts. this funding was denied.
Yesterday I received notice that a modest request for celebrating the 100th
commemoration of the
Doukhiobor migration to BC in conjunction with BC 150 celebrations has also
been denied, this in face of two HSMBC designations recognizing this event.
Sometimes I wonder what a small museum has to do to merit some recognition
in the face of funding agencies to help us do our work.
The hinterland suffers while the largess goes to the already bloated.
