Broadwood is/was an English company.  Their pianos were not treasured =
for their quality. German pianos were considered far superior.

I am not an expert, but I understand cracked soundboards are not =
uncommon among older pianos and are not detrimental to their sound =

Hi, everyone,

A local music teacher has a Broadwood grand piano, she believes dating =
from c. 1861, which she would like to offer to a museum.  It is burled =
walnut, marked John Broadwood and Sons, and, she says, looks great, but =
has a cracked soundboard (possibly reparable, but probably not cheap to =
do so).
