Hi Chris,
I'm the volunteer coordinator for The Military Museums in Calgary.
Currently, we have about 255 volunteers and the numbers are growing!
One of the benefits to becoming a volunteer is membership into the Calgary
Military Museums Society. It is not something they are expected to do but
rather it is presented as a perk to becoming a volunteer with us. They are
welcome to attend the AGM but are not given voting privileges, but are part
of any CMMS function where members are invited to attend. Many organization=
s
provide this kind of service to their volunteers and it is written into our
policy.
Many of our volunteers are quite thrilled to have this as an additional
benefit to signing up as new volunteers.
Just to let you know, we have been receiving 2-3 new volunteers per week,
since Jan. 1, 2008...without any formal recruitment program in place.
It has been a very exciting time!
All the best,
Estelle
