With the September 2009 funding cuts to the social profit sector, and
apparent future cuts of up to* 90 percent of arts funding across the
board*, I am compelled to raise a passionate voice against such
dramatic cuts. I urge the provincial government to restore funding
levels ensuring the health of this sector which is so vital to our
quality of life in British Columbia.
Cuts of such magnitude can only stifle past efforts in striving towards
sustainability in the Arts & Cultural Industry. Numerous studies have
shown Cultural Tourism is a profitable industry that irrefutably results
in a financial return on government investment:
