[BCMA] Two Engaging Exhibition Development courses UVic!

Two thought-provoking courses are coming up in the Cultural Resource Management Program at the University of Victoria! Exhibit Design and Installation <http://www.uvcs.uvic.ca/aspnet/Course/Detail/?code=HA488K> runs on-campus from February 1 - 6, and The Social Dimension: Interactive Exhibits for the Floor and the Web <http://www.uvcs.uvic.ca/aspnet/Course/Detail/?code=CMCR800> is an on-campus workshop from March 25 - 27, followed by an online component from March 29 - April 16.
Instructed by Alan Ransenberg, Exhibit Designer and Principal of Alchemy Designs<http://www.alchemyofdesign.com/>, Exhibit Design and Installation<http://www.uvcs.uvic.ca/aspnet/Course/Detail/?code=HA488K> is an intensive, hands-on course that examines the exhibition development process, with a special focus on the design and museological elements which must be considered in the creation of exhibitions.
Draft course outline:
February 1: Design is a process
February 2: Design is a visitor advocate
February 3: Design is art as interpretation
February 4: Content drives design...except when...
February 5: Design is a verb
February 6: Design is telling a story
Through discussion, fieldtrips, readings, assignments and design opportunities, this course will help provide you with opportunities to build exhibition planning and design skills.
The Social Dimension: Interactive Exhibits for the Floor and the Web <http://www.uvcs.uvic.ca/aspnet/Course/Detail/?code=CMCR800> will be instructed by Jim Spadaccini, Director of Ideum<http://www.ideum.com/>, This course will, among other things, investigate interactive and collaborative technologies and develop your ability to understand the technological and social differences for developing computer-based exhibits for the museum floor and the Web. It will increase your capacity to plan, implement and evaluate computer-based exhibits.
