*RICHMOND ART GALLERY ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECTOR*

The City of Richmond and the Board of Directors for the Richmond Art 
Gallery Association are pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Lynn 
Beavis as Director effective March 9, 2009.

"/We are very excited that Lynn is taking the helm at the RAG. The RAG 
plays a significant role in the contemporary arts in Richmond, the Lower 
Mainland and nationally. We are confident Lynn will take the RAG to new 
levels/ “, announced Jane Fernyhough, Manager of Cultural Services for 
the City of Richmond.

Ms. Beavis leaves Concordia University in Montreal as the Faculty of 
Fine Arts Gallery Coordinator, a post she has held since 2005. She has 
worked in the Canadian arts milieu for nearly 20 years and has 
experience in all aspects of arts administration, staff and volunteer 
management, Board liaison and community relations, curatorship and 
collections management.

A specialist in Contemporary Canadian Art & Curatorial Practice with a 
Master’s Degree from Concordia University, Ms. Beavis has worked in 
institutions of various sizes across Canada and has extensive knowledge 
of the many challenges facing the arts community. Her areas of expertise 
include federal funding issues, censorship and the arts, feminist art 
practices, and the body in art.

Nan Capogna, continues as Acting Director until Ms. Beavis begins.
