The BC Museum of Mining is a premier organization that promotes mining
awareness through fun experiential education programs, important
historic collection preservation and insightful public engagement about
environmental and sustainability issues.

From September to December 2008, the Museum participated in a
fundraising effort with the Renaissance Fund, which matched all
donations raised by the Museum. During this short time frame the Museum
was able to raise more than $90,000 with a single $22,000 award from the
Association of Mineral Exploration British Columbia Education Fund. With
the matching funds from the Government of BC’s Renaissance Fund the
Museum has established its own endowment of $174,800.

The ongoing support from the mining industry for the Museum is very much
appreciated by the Museum. The significant contribution by AMEBC
Outreach Fund of $22,000 is also greatly valued because it symbolizes
the mining industry’s recognition of the Museum’s achievements with its
programs and services. The Museum is proud to partner with industry in
the effort to increase British Columbian’s awareness of BC’s mineral
exploration industry through the advancement of education and community
programs.

The Museum’s endowment fund can grow over time, and the interest it
generates will be used for projects that will engage the public and show
leadership in mining education. Of particular interest to the Museum are
environmental initiatives and collections care projects. If you are
interested in contributing to the BC Museum of Mining’s fund do so
through the Vancouver Foundation website. www.vancouverfoundation.bc.ca
