Dear colleagues
A reminder that only a few spaces remain for the Archives Association of
BC's Introduction to Archival Preservation distance education course!
The course runs from January 4 to March 1, 2010.

Introduction to Archival Preservation includes eight modules. Each module
has a Self-Study Guide which provides directions for each module,
supplementary readings, self-study questions, and, in most modules, a
practical project.
Module 1: Basic concepts and terminology in archival preservation
Module 2. Basic material science of paper records and photographs
Module 3. Basic material science of machine readable records and
electronic media
Module 4. Concepts for understanding design requirements for archives
buildings and storage environments
Module 5. The exhibition of archival records
Module 6. Archival assessment and an introduction to on-line assessment
tools
Module 7. Basics of emergency planning
Module 8. Preservation management planning. Students will have the
opportunity to prepare a basic preservation plan for their institution
The last day for registration is November 30th 2009.
AABC's on-line registration service processes payments by credit card and
provides invoices for cheque requisition.

Introduction to Archival Preservation, a part of the BC150 Distance
Education Series
The BC150 Distance Education Series honours of the 150th anniversary of the
founding of the Crown Colony of British Columbia through training to assist
archives and heritage institutions preserve and make accessible our
documentary heritage.
