Storytelling Workshop

at the Jewish Museum & Archives of British Columbia

On Sunday, December 9th, 2009, Helen Mintz will present "Telling Family
Stories, Memoirs, Literary Stories or Folk Tales" from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
in the Jewish Museum & Archives of British Columbia, located in the
Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver (950 W. 41st Ave,
Vancouver). 

 

Whether your target venue is Carnegie Hall or the bedside of your
grandchild, this supportive participatory workshop gently guides you
through the steps of presenting a story. The course will appeal to
writers who wish to read and 'perform' their own writing more
effectively or to those who would simply like to explore this exciting
genre. Come with your own story or choose from one provided in the
workshop.

 

Helen Mintz is an internationally acclaimed solo artist, storyteller,
translator (Yiddish to English) and teacher based in Vancouver, BC.
Helen's work bridges traditional storytelling and contemporary solo
performance, moving between past and present, between comedy and pathos.
Helen brings stories and poems from the rich Yiddish tradition to a non
Yiddish speaking audience.

 

Tickets: $35.00 per person/$30 per Jewish Historical Society of BC
member
