 Tattoos: Body Modification or Mutilation?

 

The Jewish Museum & Archives of British Columbia welcomes Vince Hemingson for a discussion of "Tattoos: Body Modification or Mutilation?" on Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm in the Snider Adult Lounge; located in the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver (950 W. 41st Ave, Vancouver). 

   

Explore the intersection between traditional Jewish culture and the current popularity of tattoos. In the context of religion, culture and history, what does it mean to be Jewish and how do we express our individuality?

 

Vince Hemingson is an acclaimed author on the history, symbolism and social significance of tattoos. In addition to producing documentary films, he writes for www.vanishingtattoo.com, the largest tattoo related website on the internet.
